What an unusual race week! With so many delays related to our current pandemic, I was pretty concerned when our medals only showed up at 8:30am on Monday of this week.
Despite that, by Wednesday night all the kits were mailed. We normally have hundreds of volunteers that make Sole Sisters Women’s Race happen and they do all the hard stuff like race kit prep! Wowzers, I have never prepared 1,000 race kits all by myself before; and I have the paper cuts to prove it!
So after the busiest week of my life, I was so excited to see social media posts telling me that women had their virtual kits!
And some of the posts just get to me as they understand why I made the choice to go virtual rather than cancel! I just saw this post while writing this blog entry:
Tomorrow is the first day of our virtual Sole Sisters Race window (June 6 – December 31st) and we suspect there will be many ladies that choose to run or walk their 5K on the regularly scheduled day.
Our virtual race kit was been pared down to the most essential items of bib, medal and race wrap (suggestions for face coverings when in public have made it clear to us that we needed to send these out now). There will be no further shipments made in 2020.
If there is race swag you expected that is not included here, you will get all of it in 2021 at no cost to you, regardless of your participation in the 2021 race.
When we open registration for the 2021 event there will be an option to insure that anyone who has not received 2020 swag (shirt/tutu) due to the change to a virtual event will have all of their 2020 race swag included in their 2021 race kit at no charge. If you are not able to participate in the 2021 race but would still like your 2020 swag, you will be able to pick it up at the 2021 race expo without being in our 2021 race. These options will be tracked on the 2021 registration page.
We are grateful to our 2020 Sole Sisters Women’s Race Sponsors: Presenting Sponsor Kaitlyn Beaver, Gold Sponsor Plus Fitness with Tara and our Bronze Sponsors, Walsh Performance and the Council of the Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors for their support during this difficult time.
The 2020 Virtual Sole Sisters Race has continued to raise much needed funds for our charity partners Girls Gone Gazelle Run Club, Lymphoma & Leukemia Society, and Crohn’s & Colitis. All of this, plus there were fifty (50) virtual race kits donated to youth in Dartmouth, Halifax and Cape Breton West.
Hopefully you are still reading! We are creating a 2020 Sole Sisters Virtual Race video to recap your Virtual Race experience. To wish you luck tomorrow and to inspire you, the 2020 Ambassadors created this video for you! Watch their video HERE. Aren’t our Ambassadors talented?
Remember this is a historic time and we want to record how we faced it. For the video we would like you to submit pictures and/or video clips before July 31st. However, you can complete your virtual race anytime this year we just need the images sooner. Please upload them directly to:

Thank you for your understanding as this year was not what we expected but hopefully it has brought you some joy during a difficult time. And I feel like I can make you laugh, just click the picture to the left. Or click here, it is very silly!
