Tutu’s Taking Over Dartmouth

Tutu’s Taking Over Dartmouth

For the sixth consecutive year, Canada’s largest Women’s only 5K will be taking over Burnside this Saturday, as 3,000 purple-clad women hit the pavement.

A sea of purple t-shirts and plaid purple tutu’s will be seen for miles, as thousands of women run in solidarity; as a community, as friends, as strangers, as Sole Sisters. The Sole Sisters Women’s Race presented by Soles In Motion, was created to provide an inclusive experience for women of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels – in fact, one year over 24 race participants were over 70 years old! On June 10, 2017, the untimed 5K event welcomes walkers and runners to experience the thrill, pride and joy of crossing a finish line.

“In my career, I’ve met thousands of women who won’t self-identify as a runner because they don’t look a certain way, or they aren’t fast enough – but that needs to change,” Says Stacy Chesnutt, Sole Sister Women’s Race Founder and Race Director. “This event brings together women who have been running their whole lives, and women who have never ran before. For us, and our Sole Sisters, it’s so much more than a race – we’re redefining athlete and looking great while doing it.”

Hug stations, chocolate stops, and DJ’s are just some of the stops you’ll find along the route, and this year, there will even be a Glam Station provided by sponsors First Choice Hair Cutters.

“After winning accolades for being a bucket list race, having the largest tutu-run, the best medals, the most innovative race initiatives and finally as the largest women’s 5K in Canada, we knew we had to celebrate the sixth year with something special,” says Chesnutt. “So, this year, we wanted to give a special nod to the Maritimes, and we have introduced our custom designed Sole Sisters tartan tutu’s!”

Watch out Dartmouth, this Saturday tartan tutu’s are taking over!
