Sole Sisters Women’s Race cares too much about you, our volunteers, spectators and sponsors to rush to offer an event without full confidence that the environment we provide is encouraging and safe. Walking/Running a 5K, Quarter or Half Marathon is an achievement that can be hard enough on its own (oh those hills) without anxiety about potential exposure to Covid-19.
So while we know nothing replaces the excitement and energy of an in-person race we are announcing now that we will be VIRTUAL again in 2021. Our province has done a tremendous job of keeping us safe and with vaccinations scheduled for later this year we really are excited about the return of large scale events in 2022. So please save the date for our next in-person race of: June 4, 2022!
Today we received this email from a Virtual Sole Sister and her timing couldn’t have been more perfect because we know how important having something to look forward to is. Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 26th we will be opening registration for our 2021 Virtual Races!
“I wanted to make you aware that I did complete it and to thank you for giving me the push I needed to get active again. I have been walking 5k at least three days a week and am thrilled that your virtual idea gave me the motivation I needed.”
The 2021 Sole Sisters Virtual 5K Run/Walks can be done in one day or several days. You decide when/where/time and most importantly the races are open to EVERYONE, it is not limited to women only! However, our 2021 theme highlights the HER in HERo so we want you to to celebrate the HERoes in your life as you walk or run 5K.
The window for completing these virtual races is February 1st through August 31st and we are encouraging you to focus on one of three possible dates: International Women’s Day (March 8th), Mother’s Day (May 9th) or Girlfriends Day (August 1st). We also added a Virtual Sole Sisters category that can be done any day in 2021 that works for you.
The bibs and medals will change slightly depending on which of the four categories you select so if you are really keen, you could race virtually with Sole Sisters in four virtual races over the next six months.
